Truth Matters and Character Counts~ David Simpson for Speaker of the Texas House

“Never Give In ~ Never Yield to Force ~ Never Yield to the apparently overwhelming might of the enemy ~

I am not giving up ~ Providence and the People brought me to this legislature.” ~ Speaker of the House Candidate David Simpson

Bryan Hughes today issued the following statement regarding Representative David Simpson’s filing for Speaker of the Texas House of Representatives:

“I wholeheartedly endorse my friend David Simpson for Speaker of the House. David is uniquely qualified to lead the House at this pivotal time in our history. David Simpson has earned his reputation as an eminently fair, highly principled, and hardworking legislatorREAD MORE…

The video below is a great introduction to David Simpson, Candidate for Speaker of the House, who has been endorsed by former candidate Representative Bryan Hughes. It is perfectly on message with why there is a need for new leadership in the Texas House.

While many of us are still devastated from our recent losses on the national political scene, it is extremely important that we refocus our attention and energy to what is going on in our own state. In November 2010 a conservative revolution began in Texas, which has continued through the 2012 primary, primary runoffs, and general election. And while the electorate has made its desires clear, key leaders in Austin have stifled our movement’s progress—none more so than Speaker of the Texas House Joe Straus.

Join me tonight in Argyle, Tx and let’s talk about what Texans must do to “Keep Texas Strong”

Ignorance is bliss until reality hits. If we don’t get educated on the issues that effect us here in the state of Texas when reality hits it will be to late.

Today is the day to take a stand, call your State Representative. Here is a list of them. Tell them to vote for the most Conservative Candidate in the Race for Speaker, David Simpson then join us in Austin Jan. 7th and 8th.

I attended a “Town Hall” meeting last Friday at the Hyatt Place Conference center, and have never been so insulted and outraged.

The Three Republican Representatives in attendance, rather than spend constructive time hearing our views and concerns, put on yet another tired “property tax” dog and pony show, sponsored by one of the Representatives “pet” research institutes. Likewise, none of the three seemed to grasp that Conservatives care about more than our property taxes, or that we recognize that the current House Speaker has been, and continues to undermine and usurp the will of Texas Conservative majority through legislative chicanery and manipulation.

The three Republican Representatives in attendance (Cindy Burkett, Linda Harper Brown, and Kenneth Sheets) wasted no time in telling attendees that they were “Wrong” about Straus, and what an effective, “Truly Conservative” House Speaker he is.

Scheduling this “so-called” Town hall meeting for the middle of the day, on a Friday, assured the Representatives that they would meet their quota for “town hall meetings”, while shielding them from the public outrage over the actions of Joe Straus and his appointed committee chair lackeys these past two sessions.

After lionizing Straus, and affirming that they “voting for Joe Straus” to return as House Speaker this next session, they decided that arguing with their own constituents, and those others attending the meeting somehow made sense?

Do any of these people we send to Austin actually think we believe them when they whine about how hard it is to be in the House? It might actually be hard if any of them would actually stand up for the vies, values and concerns of their fellow Texans. Instead, they all seem to fall over themselves trying to “lackey-up” to Joe Straus!

All three of these Legislators are now on my naughty list, and I deeply regret having contributed, supported, and worked for their re-election. I will not make this mistake again.

I hope to see every Texas true Conservative in Austin the day of the election for House Speaker, as its now apparent that we must supervise our elected representatives, constantly!
