The Reason the Polls are wrong~ Santorum Surprise

Geography and historical data does not take into account this Texas Conservative Mom’s ability to use social media to create relationships across the country and influence voters and be influenced and educated by others who do not believe the way I do.

“A pollster is an individual or organization who conducts polls for the purpose of collecting data about demographic groups and voting blocs. Typically, a pollster uses data to assess trends that have the potential to impact political campaigns and election cycles.”

We are in  transformational  times when it is  “We The People” ~vs~ The Pundits/Establishment. The Political elite have learned through many years in power how to drive the narrative and influence elections using the mainstream media and pollsters, but what we see happening with the Santorum campaign is a combinations of a candidate who is an honest broker that tells it like he sees it and a volunteer grassroots who are willing to go out defend him and help him tell his story to their friends and neighbors.   Unlike in the past when we would visit and debate politics on our front porch now our front porch has become a laptop and geography does not matter.

Some of my closest and dearest friends today I have not met face to face  or have met them because of our relationship online and they are from all across this country.

Above are just a few of the amazing folks I hang out with on my front porch.

Interesting to note the voting blocks and demographics of my friends above.

Some are Jewish, Catholic, Evangelical, Agnostic, Democrats, Republican and Libertarian.

Some are Social Conservatives, Fiscal Conservatives and self described Liberals.

The deal is the political elite would love to create wedges between us so that we need them to fix our problems and they hold onto their power over the people.

But I have wonderful news. The gig is up. I don’t hate any of those pictured above. I actually adore them all. When we have the opportunity to debate issues and explain why we believe what we do an amazing thing happens, we do not have to agree but we do work together to come up with solutions.

It reminds me of my grandmothers favorite poem~ “When You Get To Know a Fellow”

Blessings are truly abundant!

When You Know A Fellow
Edgar A. Guest
When you get to know a fellow, know his joys and know his cares,
When you’ve come to understand him and the burdens that he bears,
When you’ve learned the fight he’s making and the troubles in his way,
Then you find that he is different than you thought him yesterday.
You find his faults are trivial and there’s not so much to blame
In the brother that you jeered at when you only knew his name.
You are quick to see the blemish in the distant neighbor’s style,
You can point to all his errors and may sneer at him the while,
And your prejudices fatten and your hates more violent grow
As you talk about the failures of the man you do not know,
But when drawn a little closer, and your hands and shoulders touch,
You find the traits you hated really don’t amount to much.
When you get to know a fellow, know his every mood and whim,
You begin to find the texture of the splendid side of him;
You begin to understand him, and you cease to scoff and sneer,
For with understanding always prejudices disappear.
You begin to find his virtues and his faults you cease to tell,
For you seldom hate a fellow when you know him very well.

When next you start in sneering and your phrases turn to blame,
Know more of him you censure than his business and his name;
For it’s likely that acquaintance would your prejudice dispel
And you’d really come to like him if you knew him very well.
When you get to know a fellow and you understand his ways,
Then his faults won’t really matter, for you’ll find a lot to praise.
