Southern Poverty Law Center ~ Unintended Consequences of the Left are Detrimental to Society

The Left is known for unintended consequences.  They tend to galvanize support based on emotion and what feels good, not what is good.  What are their actual results? When you look closely their track record is clearly not successful. Watch the video below and pay close attention to the Jan. 9th 1996 New York times article that is referenced.

Are we holding the left and their partners in government accountable for those funds we are giving them to make a difference? Are they really taking care of business or are they in the business of government?

The Southern Poverty Law Center proves again this is true. Unfortunately the unintended consequences of  declaring an organization such as the Family Research Council as a hate group may have motivated Floyd Corkins to turn violent.

“I don’t like your politics’: Words of the Chick-fil-A carrying shooter who opened fire at Family Research Council He’s been charged with assault with intent to kill and with bringing a firearm across state lines. Authorities found a box of ammunition and 15 Chick-fil-A sandwiches in his backpack.

Corkins had been volunteering at a community center dedicated to gay, lesbian and transgendered people.”

Shooting spurs heated debate on gay rights, ‘hate group’ label

The National Organization for Marriage (NOM), one of the nation’s leading opponents of same-sex marriage, told The Hill the shooting was a direct result of the Southern Poverty Law Center’s decision in 2010 to place the FRC on its list of hate groups for its rhetoric on gays.

Brian Brown, the president of NOM, pointed to a recent blog post by the Human Rights Campaign (HRC), one of the largest gay-rights groups in the country. The post, “Paul Ryan Speaking at Hate Group’s Annual Conference,” called attention to the vice presidential candidate’s scheduled appearance at the FRC’s national summit next month.

“Today’s attack is the clearest sign we’ve seen that labeling pro-marriage groups as ‘hateful’ must end,” Brown said in a statement issued following the shooting.

“For too long national gay-rights groups have intentionally marginalized and ostracized pro-marriage groups and individuals by labeling them as ‘hateful’ and ‘bigoted.’ ”

So as you watch this story play out in the media be aware of the root causes. The shooting yesterday was  the action of a disturbed young man acting alone. It was not the fault of the Southern Poverty Law Center but rather an unintended consequence of the agendas they are pushing. As with every major political movement, the homosexual lobby is pushing a specific agenda and there are organizations making a lot of money pushing that agenda. That agenda is being rejected by Americans across the board. Once again we see the unintended consequences of the left are detrimental to society.
