Questions to ask Texas State Reps when you call them about Speaker Joe Straus ~

What is the real suicide mission?

Conservative Legislation Killed by Straus’ Committee Chairs:

Texans are tired of the inside deals being made for key chairmanships; for example public safety or financial services in exchange for a vote for Speaker of the House.  There is the perception out there that the people we elect to actually make laws are the very people who think they are above the law. Remember perception is everything in politics.

Please take the time to read…..

Sec. 302.032. LEGISLATIVE BRIBERY: PROMISES OR THREATS. A person commits an offense if, with the intent to influence a member of or candidate for the house of representatives in casting a vote for speaker of the house of representatives, the person:(1) promises or agrees to cause:(A) the appointment of a person to a chairmanship or vice-chairmanship of a house committee or subcommittee;(B) the appointment of a person to a particular house committee or subcommittee, the Legislative Budget Board, the Texas Legislative Council, the Legislative Library Board, the Legislative Audit Committee, or any other position the speaker appoints;(C) preferential treatment on any legislation or appropriation;(D) the employment of a person; or(E) economic benefit to a person; or(2) threatens to cause:(A) the failure to appoint a person to a chairmanship or vice-chairmanship of a house committee or subcommittee;(B) the failure to appoint a person to a particular house committee or subcommittee, the Legislative Budget Board, the Texas Legislative Council, the Legislative Library Board, the Legislative Audit Committee, or any other position the speaker appoints;(C) unfavorable treatment on any legislation or appropriation;(D) the refusal of or removal from employment of a person; or(E) the withholding of economic benefit from a person.

Below is an analogy one State Rep. used to describe the vote for Joe Straus.

“…a compass may show you true north – and you can go north – but it will not tell you of the dangers, the deep rivers, high mountains, thick forests or other things to avoid. You might go straight north but killed in the process – would it not be better to take a better route and get to the destination faster and more safely.”

My suggestion for this State Rep.  follow the compass and your core convictions. We are not sailing we are trying to save our state and our nation. Truth matters and corruption in politics is what got us in this mess.

So when you are calling State Reps. across the state of Texas and especially in Houston please ask them……

What key positions have you been promised from Speaker Joe Straus,  his political consultants, financial backers or key lieutenants?

Remind them that is is against the law for them to vote for Joe Straus in exchange for these key chairmanships or committee assignments?

Remind them that they represent the people who elected them. If they feel threatened or that it is a suicide mission to vote against Joe Straus for Speaker as some have characterized it as, then they are a part of the inside corruption of Texas politics and the voters of Texas are becoming informed and engaged and will do everything within our power to remove them from office in the primary. So as I see it, it is a suicide mission to vote for Joe Straus for Speaker of the house. That is if “Suicide” means losing your job as Texas State Representative.

Here are a few names and contacts that you can start with on your quest for taking Joe Straus out of office. 11.28.12 Updated State Rep Contact List.xlsx

I have also included links to their Chief of Staff if they have one named and their e-mail as well as the Austin office number. I believe we need to let the their Chief of Staff know we mean business and we are not going away after the election of speaker no matter who is named as Speaker of the House.

Here is a little reminder of the corruption in Texas politics that Grassroots/Tea Party activists have been standing up against.

If you are ready to take a stand call your State Representative today  Here is a list of them. Tell them to vote for the most Conservative Candidate in the Race for Speaker; Bryan Hughes and then join us in Austin Jan. 7th and 8th.
