Democrats cross party lines to get Straus back in power; Why?
One concern True Conservatives have is Democrats crossing party lines to Vote for Joe Straus in the Texas Primary. We are getting confirmation now that this is happening this morning in HD121. To explain what they are doing.
“Voters in the state of Texas do not have to publicly identify themselves as a member of a political party when they register to vote. When they go to the polls they can freely choose either the Republican ticket or the Democratic ticket. However, voters cannot vote across party lines. Once a person chooses the ticket they will vote on they can only decide between candidates of that party. Voters in Texas receive a new voter registration card every year so they don’t have to vote on the same ticket each primary election.”
The question is Why are Democrats working to get Joe Straus reelected? Many who have been following the Speaker of the House are not surprised in the least.
To start Joe Straus we elected to his position as Speaker by 11 Moderate Republicans who partnered with Democrats to get Straus elected.
Next you have to understand that Joe Straus is not a Conservative he just says that he is to get reelected.
Now we see that on election day Democrats want him in office more than Conservative Republicans do.
Interesting to note, Democrats are looking to legalize gambling in Texas.
Why is that so interesting?
Las Vegas Casino gambling company Pinnacle Entertainment has purchased Straus Family Business Interest Retama racetrack in Texas. They are expecting Joe Straus to be reelected and continue to be one of the most powerful figures in Texas. Why is this important to them, because the Speaker of the House decides who the Committee Chairs are going to be and what legislation gets voted on and ultimately passes or does not pass.
Matt Beebe commented on the expanded partnership saying, “Many voters I have talked to are worried about Joe Straus’ conflict of interest given his deep family ties with Retama. This recent partnership should concern San Antonio residents even more. WOAI’s story on the partnership made it clear that Retama Park ‘needs some form of pari-mutuel betting in order to thrive²’. These Vegas casino owners have bet big on Straus’ intention to legalize casino gambling in Texas.”
Beebe continued, “District 121 voters don’t want a State Representative whose special interest masters now include Vegas casino bosses who need him to deliver for their bets to pay off.”
So the question is when today is over will Texans be cheated once again by backroom deals made by the Republican and Democrat Establishment lead by Joe Straus?
