Call to Action to former AARP Members
By Alice Linahan
As we all know AARP has been the voice of Seniors for decades, but did you know they are according to Dale Van Atta, author of the book “Trust Betrayed, Inside the AARP.”
“… really a Fortune 500 company that sidelines as a lobbying organization for the Washington staff, which is primarily liberal, headed by John Rother for many years, public policy head, and he’s been a liberal for many years.”
On the surface AARP seems like a great deal. For a only $8 per year, Seniors (you must be 50 or older to join) get discounts at hotels, motels and movie theaters, receive Modern Maturity magazine and the AARP Bulletin and have access to prescription drugs by mail and numerous types of group insurance.
But as many AARP members have been witness to lately there has been an attack on their generation from these lobbyists whose agenda is almost identical to that of Obama, Sebelious and the liberal wing of the Democratic Party.
Prime Example: On AARP’s website.
The Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (ACA), enacted in 2010 by Congress after fierce debate, has been challenged by several states, organizations and individuals. AARP’s brief in the lawsuit brought by the Virginia Attorney General provides the Court with critical information explaining how the law was a measured response to a national crisis.
Background
The Attorney General of the Commonwealth of Virginia, Kenneth Cuccinelli, challenged the ACA, arguing that Congress exceeded its authority and imposed requirements in violation of the U.S. Constitution.
AARP’s “friend of the court” brief, filed by AARP Foundation Litigation attorneys, argues that Congress not only has the authority to enact this law, but that the law is a carefully tailored and measured response to a growing crisis affecting interstate commerce, state and federal budgets, and the health and wellbeing of millions of Americans .
So what is a Senior to do in order to fight back against what they know from history is a failing policy. Seniors know what makes America great, many of them have fought these battles against Socialism in the past.
What can Seniors do with so many changes and the narrative from the Radical Left being pushed into our communities using technology that is new and a challenge to Seniors?
The answer lies within them and their children and grandchildren.
When I speak I give this analogy…..

DONNA GARNER - Educator for 33 years, appointed by President Reagan, Now Activist Writer
Step up, Step Out, Be bold, Hold to the truth and share your knowledge and wisdom with your children and grandchildren.

WHY – How did Obama win by a 10 million vote margin in a country where the majority of its citizens proclaim to be conservative?
Answer….. Obama’s 2008 Web 2.0 Juggernaut
- The 2008 Obama campaign raised $500 million+ from 3 million people giving > $200
- Obama beat McCain 4 to 1 in fundraising & exposure on social networking sites like
Facebook, Twitter, Digg, Youtube, Myspace, Linkdin…
- My.BarakObama.com: 400K+blogs, 200K+ searchable campaign events, 45+ volunteer
groups utilizing online election tools generating 3 million volunteer hours
- The Huffington Post (purchased by AOL) and progressive sites like it continue to
infuse the Left’s online presence and influence
So…when it comes to social media, you should wear your politics on your sleeve get educated by asking your children and grandchildren to help you learn about Facebook, Twitter, LibertyLinked.com. They need to hear your stories and why you know the Left is not Right but Wrong!!

Great job, Alice — This should help everyone — both young and old — to get involved in taking America back.
