5,000 People Sign Texas State Board of Education Petition

Texas State Board of Education Maps

Heather Liggett of Austin Tea Party has been kind enough to manage the Texas State Board of Education petition, and she just notified us that we now have over 5,000 unique signatures on the petition.

The petition has been up about two weeks, and this huge outpouring of signatories in that short length of time proves that Texans are upset about the SBOE redistricting map and the fact that the conservatives are deliberately being “targeted for extinction”!

Heather is submitting those signatures to Gov. Perry’s office periodically. He has until this Wednesday, May 18, to make his decision about what he is going to do regarding the SBOE redistricting map. As one conservative said to me today, there are two possible scenarios in the offering.

We will either see:

1. Scenario #1 — Gov. Perry (surrounded by a throng of well-known conservative GOP folks, Tea Party heads, and the 6 conservative SBOE members) vetoing the SBOE map as being a very poor and discriminatory map;

Or we will see:

2. Scenario #1 — Self-appointed spokesperson Kathy Miller of Texas Freedom Network, one of the most leftwing organizations in the state, holding a press conference announcing that with the new liberal majority on the SBOE, the first order of business when the new liberal SBOE members are elected in 2012 would be to implement into Texas’ public schools Obama’s national standards, national curriculum, national assessments, national database, and national teacher evaluations tied to students’ individual assessment scores on the national assessments. Such a teacher evaluation system would force Texas teachers to “teach to the national assessments” every day, all day long; and our Texas public school students would be thoroughly indoctrinated into the Obama administration’s social justice agenda.

My conservative friend said that there won’t be much in between ground on this decision (Wednesday, May 18) by Gov. Perry. It will be either Scenario #1 this week or Scenario #2 in another 17 months when the SBOE elections of 2012 occur.

The new SBOE redistricting map will be in place for the next ten years.

Here is what Texas Conservatives across the state have to say.
