Women On the Wall Radio with hosts Alice Linahan and Rebecca Forest has a mission to Seek the TruthShare the Truth and Stand For The Truth. Tomorrow we take on the issues that matter to the safety and security of our children and we don’t hold back!!

We believe that the women of America play a central role in the protection and security of our sovereign nation. The grandmothers, mothers, daughters, and sisters of American women of all political persuasions, age and race are the stewards of the home and hearth and will stop at nothing to defend and protect their families and their country.

We are the daughters and granddaughters of the women of America’s GREATEST generation.  They answered the call to save America and the world from Hitler’s horrific plan for humanity. Once again, America was awakened.  Since 9/11, our nation’s women have been vigilantly standing watch, calling attention to the dangers facing our children and our homeland.

In the small town of Argyle,Tx there is a sad and scary situation.

Matt SmithIn the last election a total of 495 citizens voted. Matt Smith had 254 votes which elected him as Mayor. Mr. Smith not only has an extensive criminal record but is now running for reelection when he has two EEOC complaints filed against him for sexual harassment. When you see his extensive record, listen to reports and watch video of what has happened at town hall since his election it is a wonder why friends of Matt Smith are not urging him not to run for re-election. Especially when his sexual harassment charges could potentially cost the community $1 Million in tax payer money to settle the sexual harassment cases pending.

Please see this article at the Cross Timbers Gazette. Sexual Harassment charges filed against Argyle Mayor Matt Smith.

Here is another interesting Open Records Request : Email exchange between Rod Hogan and Mayor Matt Smith.

Below is a list of Matt Smith’s criminal record. Click highlighted for actual criminal record and back up documentation.

Interesting to note how Matt Smith Describes his criminal record in the Cross Timber Candidate Questionnaire.

Today a Day of Resistance Tomorrow the Conversation Continues…….

Date posted: February 23, 2013

Day of Resistance

On January 16, 2013, President Barack Obama issued 23 executive actions against your 2nd amendment Constitutional right to bear arms. He did this without the consent of Congress which in itself, violates the foundation of the Constitution and the co-equal branches of government.

In response to these unconstitutional actions by the President, on .223, February 23, 2013 the American people will stand together in defiance to protect the right that protects ALL of our rights, the 2nd Amendment! They will organize locally so that they may band together neighbor to neighbor and reassert their community’s right to determine their own destiny!

Find out where your local Day of Resistance is, show up and begin to resist. –

Then the conversation across the country must continue locally. From town to town and state to state.

In Dallas on March 9th we will launch God, Guns and the Constitution Town-halls.

A Lesson in Austin Corruption 2

Date posted: February 21, 2013

By Jan Shedd

If you want to know how the Austin machine works, pay attention.  Watch the video, and then read what I wrote back in November.

While Lance comes across as calm, cool, and fair, what he is actually doing is reading from the pro-gambling website Let Texans Decide script.

VIDEO

Be Careful What You Ask For

They’re baaack! The same crowd that gave us Scratch Offs is two-stepping again. Advocates for expanding gambling have been working behind the scenes with assorted RINOs and Democrats for years, formulating a grand strategy to expand, expand, expand.  Unfortunately, money alone isn’t enough to make their dreams come true.  Expanded gambling will require a change to the state’s constitution. They need a two-thirds majority vote in the both houses of the legislature to put a referendum before the voters. The wolves are willing, but many of them have constituents who would end their public careers if they supported it.  What to do, what to do?

For years now, we’ve been hearing from people like (Speaker of the Texas House) Joe Straus that we can’t cut our way to prosperity.  They don’t want to raise taxes, they tell us, but we must have more revenue.  This was the laying of the foundation, if you will. Conservative activists understood the meaning behind the rhetoric, and have been bracing for an extremely well funded assault. It’s here: Let Texans Decideis a milk-and-honey propaganda campaign designed to sell expanded gambling to Texas voters.

First of all, let’s call it what it is: gambling.  They call it gaming because it sounds better.  Monopoly is a game.  Checkers is a game.  To call gambling a game is like calling a tiger a kitty-cat.

Gambling supporters will soon be spending millions of dollars to sell Texans on the idea of expanded gambling.  How will they do it?  For starters, look at what they’re calling it: “Let Texans Decide.” How could anyone oppose that?  Pro-gambling websites are full of reminders that Texans don’t like nanny-state government, and should be able to make up their own minds, as though that were being denied to us somehow.  When candidates for state offices run on an anti-expanded-gambling platform, you can vote for them or against them.  We are quite able to make our wishes known about the bane of gambling, and don’t let anyone convince you that we aren’t.

Joe Straus Speaker Showdown

Slot Machine Joe

Let’s take a look at what Let Texans Decide says.

1.    Casinos at racetracks would add $8.5 billion in economic growth statewide.

I don’t know where these numbers come from, but a very educated guess would be “economic studies” paid for by gambling interests.  It is very likely that an unbiased study would show much lower numbers. Only 2% of gambled money is taxable.  The rest goes to the casino/slot machine owners and the prize pool. What is certain is that legalized/expanded gambling never lives up to its promises.  Remember how the lottery was going to pay for education? Whatever happened with that?  Other states have added slots to save their failing horse tracks, called racinos, but decline in interest continued unabated and the horse tracks closed anyway.

2.    Texans already gamble outside our borders – according to a 2010 study, 90% of the customers at casinos on the Texas-Oklahoma border are Texans.

This information is disseminated to make you think that people who leave Texas to gamble want it in their backyard so they don’t have to drive so far. Some Texans oppose gambling outright in any form, anywhere, based on religious or other reasons.  Most have nothing against it whether they partake or not, but they understand that it comes with baggage that they don’t want to deal with, and they see having to drive out of state as a small price to pay. I have heard people say this.

legalized-gambling-in-texas3.    Casinos at racetracks in Texas could generate an estimated $1 billion annually in tax revenue.

All states trying to convince their voters that gambling is good use this same “$1 billion” number.  It too is a highly questionable figure. Promises, promises . . . if gambling is so lucrative for states, why is Nevada in such dire economic straits?  One reason why is that they keep electing Dirty Harry Reid, but it’s not realistic to put all the blame on him alone. Something else is afoot.

Let Texans Decide also tells us that expanded gambling will add thousands of jobs to our state.  This is true.  Expanded gambling will mean more government.  The State will have to hire more workers to oversee it, and those workers will have to be paid salaries, medical benefits, and pensions.  Also, there will be a large increase in law enforcement & prison guard positions because where gambling goes, crime follows.

Something else you won’t find on Let Texans Decide is the fact that gambling hurts cities.  Wherever there are casinos, the areas immediately surrounding them deteriorates.  Companies don’t like to be located in slums, so they either move away, or avoid going there altogether. Of the five U.S. cities hit hardest by the recession, four were in gambling states, and two [were] in Nevada.[1]

Did you know that much of the lottery revenue in Texas comes from the same areas with the highest rates of people on public assistance?   It’s less than comforting to think that the lottery creates extra need in districts that use need as political clout to increase taxpayer assistance.[2]  The Dallas chapter of the NAACP recently voted unanimously to eliminate the lottery.

Members of the nation’s oldest civil rights group [the NAACP] say they are frustrated by poor an minority Texans spending their money on [lottery] tickets, rather than necessities such and or health insurance–Ft Worth Star Telegram

I believe that if a referendum were held today, gambling would lose.  But after months of disinformation on television, billboards, newspapers, the Internet, and slick politicians, etc., gambling interests might be able to convince a majority of Texans to support it.  To quote Vladimir Lenin, “A lie told often enough becomes the truth.”  Don’t be fooled by the rhetoric of people who will say almost anything to open the lucrative floodgates of gambling.  The same people who sold us the lottery with solemn promises of plentiful revenue in the early 90s are making the same promises again.  They were wrong then and they’re wrong now.

CSCOPE ~ Responding the the “Stakeholders”

Date posted:

It truly is amazing how blatant they are.

I was writing on WomenOnTheWall.org  about how I was  just as insulted as Colleen Vera was that we were not included with some of the heroes of the #StopCSCOPE movement Ginger Russell and her Mom Janice VanCleave  in a power point presentation made for the CSCOPE State Conference in San Antonio. You can read about it here and sign on with myself and so many other Moms and Dads demanding that your name be included in the CSCOPE power point slide #8 as a critic opposing CSCOPE and the TESCCC. You can also email or contact Mason Moses and demand you be put on slide #8.

Mason Moses
Public Information Officer

Mason.Moses@esc13.txed.net

Office: 512-919-5349
Fax: 512-919-5232

While looking through the power point presentation for this upcoming Summer Statewide CSCOPE Conference linked here>>.CSCOPE Intimidating Citizens. I came across slide #9 Why is Thomas Ratliff giving commentary on CSCOPE and defending it?

Thomas Ratliff - Registered Lobbyist - SBOE Rep.

Thomas Ratliff – Registered Lobbyist – SBOE Rep.

Isn’t this interesting? Below is what Slide #9  says……

Controversy in the Media

Responding to Stakeholders…

    • Guidelines for providing CSCOPE access to stakeholders
    • Adhere to district policy and guidelines for how CSCOPE content should or may be shared/displayed.
    • Adhere to the TESCCC DULA and Terms of Use by not

The key word being “Stakeholders”. Isn’t that an interesting choice of a word- “Stakeholder”? My friends over at Agendawise.com wrote a piece that I believe hits the nail on the head. Weston Hicks asks the question……

Why would CSCOPE be allowed to stay?

On what basis should CSCOPE receive political support from government officials to stay in Texas classrooms, and profit from Texas taxpayers?

CSCOPE has been exposed engaging in the worst educational malpractice possible.

With disregard for the rules in the State of Texas, CSCOPE brought curriculum into our children’s classrooms that:

  1. Calls the Boston Tea Party a terrorist act,
  2. Makes kids create a communist/socialist flag,
  3. Christianity is called a cult, and treated as illegitimate,
  4. Communism is placed at the top of the ladder of big ideas of the last 2 centuries, capitalism is at the bottom and socialism is in the middle,
  5. Free Enterprise is framed as a selfish system
  6. Islam is taught under the cover of “cultural understanding”

This is just a few things CSCOPE is guilty of. It is hard to imagine a higher level of educational malpractice or broken trust.

Action is currently being taken against CSCOPE, but so far “regulate them better” is the only message out there. Hopefully, the grassroots changes that soon.

What would it say to other bad actors trying to infiltrate our schools if mighty Texas can’t kick CSCOPE out of classrooms, and off of taxpayer bill?

The progress the grassroots has made against CSCOPE so far is great, but good things are never easy. The grassroots should stay involved to make sure the punishment fits the crime, and to make sure the punishment advertised is followed through on. Words guarantee very little these days.

Especially now, Texas needs to show that there is still a government somewhere that knows how to match a problem with the correct solution.

So who are the Stakeholders?

In another article by the team at Agendawise.com Ruling class funtime (judges, and educrats, and ParentPACs, oh my!) I believe the money quote as my friend Adam Cahnman says is….. “Straus has done his part to ward off reform to the public education system in Texas, a system that is broken in one sense and high-performance in another. It is broken for the purposes of education, but it is lean, mean, and high performance as a political special interest juggernaut.”

CSCOPE Ratliff audio

That brings me back to the CSCOPE power point presentation and Thomas Ratliff who recorded a response to the critics of CSCOPE. You can listen to it here.

http://www.reg8.net/users/0012/docs/CSCOPE.mp3

Who is Thomas Ratliff? Why is he a Stakeholder to CSCOPE?

Ratliff is the son of former moderate Lt. Governor Bill Ratliff and brother of Freshman House of Representative Bennett Ratliff who it just so happens was named by moderate Speaker of the House Joe Straus to the  2013 Public Education Committee.

Oh by the way….

Thomas Ratliff was ruled to be an illegal member of the SBOE  – registered lobbyist with conflict of interest

Ratliff is a registered lobbyist for Microsoft who sells to clients who do business with the Texas State Board of Education and with the Texas Education Agency, and was ruled by Attorney General Greg Abbott  to be  ineligible to serve on the SBOE.

The AG went even further and stated that because Ratliff is ineligible even to be on the SBOE, then Ratliff’s argument in which he says he can recuse himself from certain votes involving his clients is actually mute and void because Ratliff should not be on the SBOE in the first place.

Teachers come firstSo now the question becomes…. is it about educating Texas children or is it about a ruling class of special interest groups who are making millions of dollars off of our Tax dollars and taking money that should be going to hire good teachers who actually know how to educate children with solid Type 1 education and who know how to write a scope and sequence instead of depending on an ineffective curriculum like CSCOPE.

Here is a little financial information you may be interested in.

“CSCOPE: How Much Have Taxpayers Paid?”

Statement from Tom Fabry:

These two areas alone — $13 Million for CSCOPE and $30 Million for TASA/TASB — add up to more than $43 Million tax dollars – all going [each year] to unelected organizations outside the control of the SBOE.

Many of these are the same Texas school districts that have filed a lawsuit to force the Texas Legislature to give them more of our tax dollars.

Maybe that is why so many were working hard to try and prevent Barbara Cargill from fulfilling her postion as the Chairman of the SBOE.

2012BarbaraCargillBlessings are abundant though, Barbara Cargill stood strong  and with a huge ground swell of support from the Grassroots I am happy to report that today the Full Senate approved Chairman Barbara Cargill.

I totally agree with Ms. Mac. Please email or call and send a message of congratulations and support to Chairman Barbara Cargill….

She is not paid.  She works long hours.
