Why is Joe Straus such a threat to the state of Texas?

Todd Hunter and Steve Mostyn
Steve Mostyn~ Largest Donor to the Democrat Party in Texas
Yesterday, while sifting through a records request, we stumbled across an interesting event in the calendar of liberal Democratic State Rep. Garnet Coleman of Houston:
Calendar Event
Tuesday April 19, 2011 – Clyde Alexander inviting GC Todd Hunter Steve Mostyn and a few other dems to dinner with (coat and tie required, no cell phones allowed)
Location: Tarry House Tarrytown
POC: Clyde Alexander
What does this mean? Well, “GC” is Garnet. Clyde Alexander is a former Democratic state representative who served as Joe Straus’ first chief of staff in 2009 (when Straus was elected to Speaker of the House by Democrats and a few liberal Republicans). Steve Mostyn is a trial lawyer and liberal Democrat mega-donor.
Formerly a Democrat Rep., Todd Hunter is a Republican with liberal ties and Joe Straus has given him vast power in the Texas House.
Hunter is the self-described legislation gatekeeper of the Texas House. In an interview following the session, Hunter boasted that bills made it to the floor only through him. A noteworthy bill that did not make it past Hunter: spending limits legislation that enjoys 90%+ support in the GOP.
Speaker Straus has spoken dismissively of Rick Perry’s budget compact, including a spending limit and left the popular measure out of his interim charges.
This isn’t the first time Hunter and Mostyn have been caught hanging out. Todd Hunter mediated a lawsuit against TWIA that netted Mostyn $189 million, which he in turn funneled into Democrat campaigns in 2010. Shortly before the mediation began, Mostyn sent Hunter a $25,000 contribution.
It doesn’t surprise us that Mostyn got what he asked for out of the mediation.
At the time of this April 2011 “no cell phones” meeting, legislation reforming TWIA was being pushed through both bodies of the legislature.
One can only wonder ahat all Mostyn is expecting from Hunter and the Straus team in 2013.
Currently, Mostyn is locked in a pitched proxy war with Texans for Lawsuit Reform, largely in Republican primaries.
So the question is when today is over will Texans be cheated once again by backroom deals made by the Republican and Democrat Establishment lead by Joe Straus?
The only way to stop it is to get out and Vote for Matt Beebe in the Primary today!

TEXAS HOUSE PLEDGE CARDS VIOLATION OF SECTION 302.032
Sec. 302.032. LEGISLATIVE BRIBERY: PROMISES OR THREATS. A person commits an offense if, with the intent to influence a member of or candidate for the house of representatives in casting a vote for speaker of the house of representatives, the person:(1) promises or agrees to cause:(A) the appointment of a person to a chairmanship or vice-chairmanship of a house committee or subcommittee;(B) the appointment of a person to a particular house committee or subcommittee, the Legislative Budget Board, the Texas Legislative Council, the Legislative Library Board, the Legislative Audit Committee, or any other position the speaker appoints;(C) preferential treatment on any legislation or appropriation;(D) the employment of a person; or(E) economic benefit to a person; or(2) threatens to cause:(A) the failure to appoint a person to a chairmanship or vice-chairmanship of a house committee or subcommittee;(B) the failure to appoint a person to a particular house committee or subcommittee, the Legislative Budget Board, the Texas Legislative Council, the Legislative Library Board, the Legislative Audit Committee, or any other position the speaker appoints;(C) unfavorable treatment on any legislation or appropriation;(D) the refusal of or removal from employment of a person; or(E) the withholding of economic benefit from a person.
One concern True Conservatives have is Democrats crossing party lines to Vote for Joe Straus in the Texas Primary. We are getting confirmation now that this is happening this morning in HD121. To explain what they are doing.
“Voters in the state of Texas do not have to publicly identify themselves as a member of a political party when they register to vote. When they go to the polls they can freely choose either the Republican ticket or the Democratic ticket. However, voters cannot vote across party lines. Once a person chooses the ticket they will vote on they can only decide between candidates of that party. Voters in Texas receive a new voter registration card every year so they don’t have to vote on the same ticket each primary election.”
The question is Why are Democrats working to get Joe Straus reelected? Many who have been following the Speaker of the House are not surprised in the least.
To start Joe Straus we elected to his position as Speaker by 11 Moderate Republicans who partnered with Democrats to get Straus elected.
Next you have to understand that Joe Straus is not a Conservative he just says that he is to get reelected.
Now we see that on election day Democrats want him in office more than Conservative Republicans do.
Interesting to note, Democrats are looking to legalize gambling in Texas.
Why is that so interesting?
Las Vegas Casino gambling company Pinnacle Entertainment has purchased Straus Family Business Interest Retama racetrack in Texas. They are expecting Joe Straus to be reelected and continue to be one of the most powerful figures in Texas. Why is this important to them, because the Speaker of the House decides who the Committee Chairs are going to be and what legislation gets voted on and ultimately passes or does not pass.
Matt Beebe commented on the expanded partnership saying, “Many voters I have talked to are worried about Joe Straus’ conflict of interest given his deep family ties with Retama. This recent partnership should concern San Antonio residents even more. WOAI’s story on the partnership made it clear that Retama Park ‘needs some form of pari-mutuel betting in order to thrive²’. These Vegas casino owners have bet big on Straus’ intention to legalize casino gambling in Texas.”
Beebe continued, “District 121 voters don’t want a State Representative whose special interest masters now include Vegas casino bosses who need him to deliver for their bets to pay off.”
So the question is when today is over will Texans be cheated once again by backroom deals made by the Republican and Democrat Establishment lead by Joe Straus?

Tuesday, May 29th is Election Day! This is your last opportunity to join Texans from across the state who have answered the call to do their civic duty and vote. Remind your Solid Conservative friends and family to also go Vote as well.

In a one last, futile attempt to purchase a victory in Tuesday’s primary, Lance Gooden is sending ANOTHER mailer filled with lies and distortions about Stuart Spitzer.
This time instead of sending a large postcard, it will arrive either on Saturday or Tuesday in a sealed brown envelope.
Will this one have a big picture of the Bible, or will it have images of marijuana leaves?
We don’t know. All we know it that there is no lie outrageous enough for Lance. Unless you find RINO desperation amusing, don’t even bother to open it.
Voices Empower was alerted about the Mass Mailer because of a class that Rep. Lance Gooden had with
former Republican Country Chair, Mary Rene Cline. We now it looks like the word is out!!
State Rep. Lance Gooden Clashes with Former Republican County Chair,
Mary Rene Cline
in
Post Office in Kaufman
A verbal clash occurred Friday, May 25 in the Post Office in Kaufman between State Representative Lance Gooden and former Kaufman GOP
County Chair Mary Rene Cline. Gooden approached Ms Cline in the Kaufman Post Office and ask Ms Cline if she was going to vote for him.
Ms Cline politely responded:
No, I am not going to vote for you.
Gooden responded: Why won’t you vote for me?
Ms Cline again responded:
“No!” ! will not vote for you. –Mr Gooden — you don’t live inKaufman County — you don’t work in Kaufman County and that is not even your car that you are driving in Kaufman County.
Gooden responded by saying: Yes, I do live in Kaufman County:
Ms Cline responded:
No! I have information that you do not live in the county and I will not vote for a person who does not live here!
Then Gooden responds:
Well even if I don’t live in the County — “that shouldn’t matter” — I have been doing a good job.
Ms. Cline again responds,
Yes it does matter– the people in our County expect to have someone that we can depend on. I have talked to many people about you and I have decided not to vote for you.
Ms Cline commented that: she was very surprised about theaggressive nature of Gooden. He would not let it go– he continued to chastise me for supporting Dr Spitzer.
Yes, it should matter to the voters in House District 4– Ms Cline reported that Mr. Gooden became very aggressive and agitated –It seems very unbecoming for an elected official to confront a Senior Citizen in an aggressive tone. This behavior is reflective of the Character of Gooden.
He is the elected official who represents the Texans who live and work in H.D. 4. Regardless of the choice of Ms Cline– Gooden should have remained professional– He must respect the right to choose. This is still America and we still have a RIGHT to choose our candidates.
This altercation did not go un-noticed. Several people in the post office gathered round to listen in. There were plenty of witnesses–
Gooden made additional remarks about supporting House Speaker, Joe Straus and commented that people were talking about his ( Gooden’s ) personal life.
Mary Rene Cline has been a respected citizen of Kaufman for 39 years. She was born in Kemp, went to school in Kemp, and has a business in Kaufman. She is the former Chair of the Republican Party of Kaufman County. She is well known for her years of civic and professional service.
In closing Ms. Cline stated:
I am very concerned about the tone in which the altercationensued. It was unnecessary. I am hopeful the we can move on and can all conduct ourselves in a positive professionalmanner.
Gooden was in the Kaufman post office to do an additional mass mailer to House District 4– The citizens in Kaufman and Henderson Counties
have be bombarded with NEGATIVE political mailers on Dr.Stuart Spitzer and other candidates.
Spitzer is Gooden’s opponent in the election to be held on Tuesday, May 29.
“Keep in mind while reading this that our representative in the Texas House, Lance Gooden, won’t tell us where he lives, where he works, or what he does for a living, but he will proudly proclaim his unwavering support for Joe Straus.
Some of you might say, “But Lance says he lives in Terrell.” Wrong. He owns a vacant house in Terrell. “But Lance says he works in District 4.” No, he hasn’t told us where he works. “But he says he’s an insurance consultant for energy and energy related companies.” Then why does he not have a state issued insurance license? And if he does , where is it? District 4 voters have a right and responsibility to ask these questions, and Gooden has a duty to answer. If he wants to live a private life, he shouldn’t run for public office.
BTW, someone is spreading rumors that Empower Texans supports the state monkeying with police and firefighter pensions, specifically to convert them to 401Ks, and that’s why ET has endorsed Stuart Spitzer. I will leave it to my readers to determine where these rumors are coming from, but I will tell you that this charge is absolutely, 100% FALSE.”
Today leading up to the Primary vote on Tues. May 29th there will be a lot of propaganda thrown out to try and reach primary voters.
It is ironic that it would fall in Texas during Memorial weekend. There are going to be many patriots out canvassing their districts passing out push cards, phone banking and fighting the good fight until Tuesday. Why are the engaged minority willing to give up a relaxing holiday weekend with friends and family?
Because they truly understand what is at stake and that we must honor our Veterans ~

We are at a defining point in our States history where we have the opportunity to get back to the foundation of what makes our State and our Country truly great. As Rick Santorum clearly articulated it is………..
Faith~ Family~ Freedom~
That is what our Veterans have fought and died for. I urge you to take a step back and see our Texas Primary as an opportunity to get back to our foundation. An opportunity to clean out the corruption in Texas Politics. The Primary is our only chance to clean out the propaganda filled halls of the Texas Capital and fill those halls with Civil Servants instead of the Political Establishment.
